My friend Laura moves into her new New York City apartment this weekend and I decided to make a little inspiration board for her living room. I thought it should be grown up, but eclectic and fun, just like her personality. I liked the calming, yet spirited color palette of gray, blue and yellow. Let's take a look (Click on picture for larger image):
1. The focal point of the room is the fab-u-lous velvet, tuffed sleeper soafer from Urban Outfitters. Everyone knows in you live in NYC you are going to have guests and this must be the classiest sleeper around.
2. On the couch, some gorgeous pillows courtesy of Caitlin Wilson Textiles.
3. On the walls, a teal coat rack, also from Urban and some gold frames inspired by Effortless Style, although I'd encourage Laura to find some cheap thrift store frames, paint them gold and frame her favorite scenes from her favorite city.
4. Chevron chair from Urban, which I actually saw on Birdie to Be last week and is what reminded me to check there for furniture and then inspired this whole board!
5. Peacock pillow and rug from Anthropologie.
6. Accent chair, found on pinterest, but easily found and re-ulpolstered from a flea market or thrift store.

What do you think? A good start? What would you add to a room like this?

i love the pieces you gathered here - especially the couch. i can just picture it in a chic nyc apartment - i would curl up on that thing & read for hours while gazing out the window at the gorgeous skyline!

Ooh..I love that. Maybe a cool trunk for a coffee table? What a great friend you are!
